In Lund, the European Spallation Source (ESS) and MAX IV Laboratory enable researchers and industry partners to develop new materials, improve battery performance, accelerate drug discovery, and advance the manufacturing technologies of the future. Together with internationally recognized institutions such as Karolinska Institutet, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Lund University, Chalmers University of Technology, and Uppsala University, these facilities attract world-class talent, international investment, and research partnerships from across the globe.
Sweden is home to one of Europe’s largest concentrations of research-intensive businesses and invests a larger share of its economy in research and development than most advanced economies.​​​​​​​
